Classy treatment of classic Indian dishes (and even a few other cuisines) and an admirable consistency make this elegant spot a local favorite. Order this to go: We began with crisply crusted samosas (lamb with chutney and a fabulous mushroom and feta), followed by hearty butter chicken with basmati (every grain distinct). Two sides also held up well on the trip home: the palak paneer, the bright green spinach spiked with house-made cheese, and the dal makhani, tender, spicy, slow-cooked black lentils. As for naan, we favor the version stuffed with goat cheese and rosemary—not traditional but definitely tasty. Pro tip: Park on Wakeforest, near the grand gold doors just off Richmond.
